Microsoft Great Plains Acquires Omni Security and Omni Field Security
As part of Microsoft Great Plains’ continued commitment to provide high-quality, customer-driven solutions, we are pleased to announce the acquisition of Omni Security and Omni Field Security from Winthrop Dexterity Consultants, a Microsoft Great Plains Solution Developer based in Winthrop, Australia.

Dynamics and eEnterprise customers will find Omni Security is a simple, but extremely powerful method for configuring user security. Its multi-user, multi-company and multi-dictionary Explorer-style interface helps users easily control access to forms, tables, reports and documents, as well as control posting permissions and access to Explorer objects.

Additionally, Omni Field Security provides form, window, field and record-level security.

Release Information
These solutions will be available for purchase from Microsoft Great Plains following the release of eEnterprise and Dynamics (SQL) Release 7.0. (eEnterprise and Dynamics Release 7.0 are scheduled to release in Calendar Q2, 2002.) Specific information regarding pricing and availability from Microsoft Great Plains will be coming soon. Winthrop Dexterity Consultants Pty Ltd is pleased to announce the sale of Omni Security and Omni Field Security to Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions. Omni Security and Omni Field Security are two of the modules from the popular Omni Tools product, a suite of eight enhancement utilities for use with Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics and eEnterprise.

Omni Security offers a simple yet powerful explorer interface into the existing security model, as well as a number of enhancements to functionality and additional interactive dialogs. Omni Field Security offers the ability to create conditional security restrictions at the form, window, field and record level.

Both Omni Security and Omni Field Security will be re-released by Microsoft Great Plains for Release 7.0. Winthrop Dexterity Consultants will continue to offer the full Omni Tools Suite version 6.0 (including Omni Security and Omni Field Security) until Microsoft Great Plains releases a version 7.0 of the two purchased modules.

At that time the Omni Tools Suite version 6.0 will be re-released with the remaining six modules, and Omni Security and Omni Field Security will only be available from Microsoft Great Plains for Release 7.0.

Support for version 6.0 of Omni Tools, including Omni Security and Omni Field Security, will continue to be provided by Winthrop Dexterity Consultants.

Omni Tools Suite version 5.0 will no longer be sold after March 2002; support will be available until June 2002.

Omni Tools Suite version 5.5 will no longer be sold after June 2002; support will be available until September 2002.

Omni Tools Suite version 7.0 with the remaining six modules will be released soon after Microsoft Great Plains releases Version 7.0 of Dynamics and eEnterprise.

David Musgrave has also been appointed as the Senior Dexterity/Development Consultant for the Asia Pacific Region by Microsoft Business Solutions.

The following F.A.Q. should answer any questions you may have:

	What happens to all my existing Customers of Omni Tools? Absolutely nothing. Any products purchased from Winthrop Dexterity Consultants will be supported by Winthrop. However, support for the older versions will be phased out as described in the above announcement.
	Will I be charged again for version 7.0 of Omni Security? No. Microsoft Business Solutions will be offering Omni Security (now called Advanced Security) as part of the System Manager module for all systems. Therefore, it will be available at no extra cost to all customers of Microsoft Business Solutions.
	Will I be charged again for version 7.0 of Omni Field Security? No. Microsoft Business Solutions will be offering Omni Field Security (now called Field Level Security) at no charge to existing eEnterprise sites. However, they will also provide it at no charge to existing customers of the Winthrop Omni Field Security version 6.0 for Dynamics (both LAN & SQL). It can be purchased for Dynamics SQL or new eEnterprise sites if required. It will not be available for Dynamics (Ctree & P.SQL) customers.
	What is happening the Conditional Scripting functionality in version 7.0? The Conditional Scripting functionality (now called Field Level Security Scripting) will be available in the Microsoft Business Solutions version 7.0 Field Level Security product (for Dynamics SQL and eEnterprise only), however it will have an additional cost associated with it. Any site which has Winthrop's Omni Field Security version 6.0 will automatically get access to Field Level Security including the scripting functionality.
	Should I wait for the Microsoft Business Solutions version? There is no choice, now that Omni Security and Omni Field Security v6 are no longer available for purchase from Winthrop Dexterity Consultants.
	When will the Microsoft Business Solutions version be available? The Microsoft Business Solutions Advanced Security for version 7.0 was released as an add-on product on 21-Oct-2002.

What happens when Microsoft Business Solutions release their version 7.0 of Omni Security and Omni Field Security?
By the time Microsoft Business Solutions release their version 7.0, the Omni Tools suites for version 5.0 and version 5.5 will no longer be available for sale. Omni Tools version 6.0 will be available but we will no longer register the two purchased modules. All existing sites with Omni Security and Omni Field Security will be supported by Winthrop as per the above announcement, even though the two modules can no longer be purchased from Winthrop.

Can I purchase versions 6.0 of Omni Security and Omni Field Security after Microsoft Business Solutions releases version 7.0?
No, by that time all Winthrop versions (5.0, 5.5 & 6.0) of the two purchased modules will be removed from sale and Microsoft Business Solutions will only be offering version 7.0. Omni Security and Omni Field Security v6 are no longer available for purchase from Winthrop Dexterity Consultants.

What happens to the price of Omni Tools Suite version 6.0?
The pricing of Omni Tools will remain the same until Microsoft Business Solutions releases its Advanced Security version 7.0 module. At that time the pricing for the version 6.0 entire suite will be decreased to reflect the removal of the two purchased modules from the suite. The same version 6.0 code will be available however, we will no longer register Omni Security or Omni Field Security.

What happens when a site upgrades to version 7.0?
The upgrade process is simple. If the site only has Omni Security or Omni Field Security, they would not need to install any code from Winthrop, they will just need to install the Microsoft Business Solutions code. If the site has other Winthrop modules, then they will need to install the Omni Tools version 7.0. The site may wish to wait until the Advanced Security and Field Level Security version 7.0 is released (approximately 90 days after the version 7.0 release).

What is the timeline for the changeover?
Below is the expected timeline for all the changes described above (Dates subject to change without notice):

31-Mar-2002 - Version 5.0 of Omni Tools and Omni Price are no longer available for sale.
30-Jun-2002 - Support for version 5.0 of Omni Tools and Omni Price no longer available.
30-Jun-2002 - Version 5.5 of Omni Tools and Omni Price are no longer available for sale.
15-Jul-2002 - Release of Microsoft Business Solutions version 7.0 of Dynamics and eEnterprise.
15-Jul-2002 - Release of Omni Tools version 7.0 without Omni Security and Field Security.
30-Sep-2002 - Support for version 5.5 of Omni Tools and Omni Price no longer available.
21-Oct-2002 - Release of Microsoft Business Solutions Advanced Security version 7.0.
22-Oct-2002 - Version 6.0 of Omni Tools no longer sold with Omni Security and Field Security.

Thereafter:
Support for version 6.0 of Omni Tools (including any previously sold Omni Security and Field Security modules) will continue to be provided by Winthrop Dexterity Consultants.
Support for version 7.0 of Omni Tools without Omni Security and Field Security will be provided by Winthrop Dexterity Consultants.
Support for version 7.0 of Advanced Security from Microsoft Business Solutions will be provided by Microsoft Business Solutions.
